My name is Jan Plume, and I am a qualified hypnotherapist. When you choose to work with Plume Consulting, I will guide you into a trance of deep relaxation called hypnosis, which deals with the subconscious mind.

Hypnotherapy requires enhanced focus to develop your imagination. I use visualisation techniques to redirect your attention from pain or help you re-experience root problems and identify solutions. If you’re considering hypnotherapy to improve your sporting performance, imagine each step you take during training to accomplish your goals. This is similar to the neuro linguistic programming imagery training process—which may also benefit you in this case.
Hypnotherapists believe you’re more likely to accept suggestions under hypnosis, leading to behavioural changes. During hypnotherapy sessions, I will make suggestions in line with your desired outcomes. These could include ‘you sleep easily’, ‘when you’re in contact with a cat, your sinuses will clear’, or ‘you will relax whenever you see a spider’.
My practice is built on trust. I endeavour to maintain open communication and always adhere to the Australian Hypnotherapist Association’s strict code of ethics. Remember, you will always be in control and can stop at any time.

Hypnosis is a complementary therapy that’s similar to mindfulness practices. It’s used in combination with emotional freedom technique and other psychological therapies. Each hypnotherapy appointment lasts at least 60 minutes. During one of my hypnotherapy consultations, I will take the time to understand your unique needs and tailor the session to suit.
Hypnotherapy requires you to be vulnerable and willing to explore difficult emotions or memories. This process can lead to increased self-awareness, which can be beneficial for making positive changes in one’s life. After every session, I will debrief you on your progress.
